which one do you like better?

Yes, no matter what our preferences in reading are, it is nice to have a little light reading now and again.
So glad that you are finding out all about it.

"the girlfriends' guide" was great - i agreed with a lot of what she said.

@ em: hard to say. the girlfriend's guide is more fun to read and touches on a lot of the less weighty issues, but if i'm freaking out about something, i pull out what to expect.

When you're getting closer to labor, I highly recommend The Big Book of Birth by Erica Lyon. It walks a lovely balance between natural and normal birth and keeping you informed about all your options while understanding that, if things don't go perfectly according to plan, what a doctor will (and ought to) do, so you don't feel "robbed" of the labor experience you dreamed of. It's my definitely my favorite.
